How to make Cauliflower Sambar Recipe
Sambar is one of the most popular dishes in South India, especially in Tamil Nadu. Sambar can be prepared with any vegetables of your personal liking. It is not necessary to use the same vegetables said in the recipe it is totally optional. You can also use a ready-made sambar mix instead of other masalas. Sambar is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or for dinner.
Ingredients:
Toor Dal - 100 grams
Tamarind - lemon size ball
Dry Chillies - 8
Coriander seeds - 50 grams
Bengal gram Dal - 1 tablespoon
Onion - 1
Mustard seeds - 1 tablespoon
Urad Dal - 1 tablespoon
Green Chillies - 2
Cauliflower
Raddish- 1
Drumstick - 1
Lady's finger - 1 cup
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tablespoon
Curry leaves - as required
Coriander leaves - as required
Salt - as required
Oil - as required
Asafoetida(perungayam) - as required
Preparation:
Take a bowl and soak Toor Dal for 10 minutes. On meanwhile, make drumsticks into small pieces and slice the lady's finger, and radish. Now wash the soaked Dal, add turmeric powder, and allow it to cook. Once the Dal is cooked turn off the flame.
Heat a pan and dry roast the Dry Chillies, coriander seeds, Bengal gram. Allow it to cool and grind it in a mixer to a fine powder. Instead of this step, you can also use ready-made sambar powder.
Now add the vegetables to the dal and cook till vegetables become soft. Now add the masala powder to the vegetables and allow it to boil. You can add the masala powder according to your taste.
Add the onions to the sambar and allow it to boil the raw smell of masala goes. Now add the salt according to your taste. Heat another pan and pour oil for tempering. Once the oil is hot add mustard seeds, Urad Dal, curry leaves, and asafoetida. Add this tempering to the sambar and finally garnish it with coriander leaves.
